The ‘Secret’, a new movie about the ‘Law of Attraction’ is very popular right now. What it says is that we are always attracting things to ourselves either consciously or unconsciously, and the movie makes a persuasive case for that premise

What we talk about we attract into our lives. What we think about we are inviting into our lives. That’s it in a nutshell.

When I saw the ‘Secret’ it made me wonder about Ghosts and Hauntings, because, hey, if you are thinking about Ghosts, and talking about Hauntings, then aren’t you inviting them into your life too?

My son, Brian, runs a hobby site called Scareo.com and we spend a lot of time visiting haunted places to document what we can of Ghosts and Ghost stories. We are planning some big trips next year, like Waverly and Gettysburg. On those occasions we will lay out a sleeping bag on the battlefield, or in a spooky looking room, and spend the night, talking and taking pictures and recordings.

During these visits we think about Ghosts, talk about Ghosts and what indication there may be that they exist, and that they are near us.

Some evidence exists that people see what they expect to see, and as far as spiritual and mystical phenomena go, there was an interesting movie from 2002 called ‘Mothman Prophecies’. In it the lead character visits an expert on the creatures visiting Point Pleasant West Virginia. He asks what causes the strange things happening to him and the expert says.

“You noticed them, they noticed that you noticed them”.

It was a very eerie line, and it got worse as the expert outlines the possible future for the character from the movie, John Klein.

It seems that for a while, the whole town of Point Pleasant had Ghosts in mind, and they all reported seeing the ‘Mothman’ creatures for several years.

It’s common in the urban legend type of haunting we find, too. These are the volunteers in restaurants, or on airplanes who want to tell us about the old house they lived in. Some people love to share their scary stories, and it’s one of the most fun things about the hobby.

Lots of these stories sound familiar:

At first it’s merely a cup that got displaced, later it’s a shadow in a window, a few weeks later they have apparitions haunting the whole dwelling. Sometimes the Ghost will move a doll, or turn off a light, and the (human) resident will notice it, and even talk to the spirit.

There was a painter, I wish I could remember his name, wrote a book about his experiences. He went from town to town painting the local haunted houses, the owners would walk out to see the painting, often offer to buy it, and tell the story of the home. In the painters’ book he related the same phenomenon, that the more attention you give the spirit, the more likely it will come.

So, after 15 years of looking, perhaps I can look forward to my first real encounter with a Ghost. And since I’ve heard it can be extremely terrifying the first time, maybe after it happens I’ll quit looking.

Austin is steeped in history, from the days of the Republic of Texas, through the establishment of Austin as the Capitol of the State of Texas. Downtown Austin is full of old, historic buildings, many of which are said to be haunted by a multitude of ghosts. Austin Ghost Tours has meticulously researched the history behind each legend, and has created walking tours based on the colorful and sometimes frightening stories of Austin’s past.

Originally created as an offshoot of Austin Promenade Tours, a historic walking tour with a less ghoulish focus, Austin Ghost Tours has been giving people goosebumps for well over a decade. Their popularity increases every year, as does their offerings. They have recently begin offering online tours to those who can’t join the walking tours but the spine-tingling feeling of walking with the spirits is best experienced in person.

One of Austin’s most “incredibly haunted” spots is the historic Driskill Hotel. Located on the corner of Sixth and Brazos, it has been the crown jewel of downtown Austin since it opened on December 20, 1886. Some say that the spirit of Colonel Driskill remains in the building he was so proud of, evidenced by mysterious puffs of cigar smoke. Staff have reported sensing a child bouncing the ball down the grand staircase leading from the mezzanine down to the lobby and giggling perhaps the ghost of the four-year-old daughter of a US Senator who was playing unattended with a ball when she slipped and fell to her death on the marble floor at the bottom of the stairs. These and many other ghostly legends are part of the Driskill’s vibrant history.

The Driskill figures greatly into two of the tours offered the Ghosts of the Capitol Tour, which includes the Driskill, as well as the Capitol itself, and the Governor’s Mansion. The Ghosts of the Warehouse District Tour features some of the oldest buildings in the city, including the site of series of gruesome murders in 1885. These two tours are 90 minutes each, and both end at the magnificent Driskill.

One of the most popular tours is the Sixth Street Pub Crawl. Sixth Street, although a vibrant and extremely modern entertainment district, is full of ancient building with their fair share of ghosts, murder and mayhem. Enjoy Austin’s historic taverns while learning about its haunted past on this unique tour. The Sixth Street Tour has proven to be all the rage for bachelor and bachelorette parties.

Other tours include one dedicated to the chilling story of the “Servant Girl Annihilator,” a brutal serial killer who predated Jack the Ripper, and terrorized female servants in 1884. Halloween is a perfect night for ghost stories, and Austin Ghost Tours celebrates with one of their best tours a jam-packed combination tour that includes the best of each. Tickets go early for this one, so book in advance.

Austin Ghost Tours conducts their spooky events rain or shine, and since they are walking tours, participants should dress accordingly, including wearing appropriate shoes.

At some point in time, every business has a need for professionally written articles, whether they are to be used for website content or for other business purposes. There are services available to meet these needs, and the professionals who specialize in this area are known as ghostwriters. A ghost writer is someone who writes creative stories, articles, blogs, journals and other pieces for different types of businesses. The difference between a ghostwriter and other professional writers is that the entries written by a ghostwriter are typically published under a pseudonym. This allows a company to take credit for the written work without having to actually produce it. This concept is not new, and for some time, borrowed work has allowed businesses to provide professionally written work that is tailored toward their industry. The nature of this work has changed over the last several years because of the explosive growth of the internet, and because of this, ghostwriters have become a prized commodity. Certainly, you have witnessed the many different forms of content on the internet. This content can vary from news articles, service and product descriptions, blogs, press releases and the like. A webmaster may not have the time to write the large amount of content required to keep their website updated. In addition to this, the webmaster may simply not have the talent or professional experience to produce well written pieces. Because of this, ghost writers are used to by many companies’ to produce appealing content for their websites.

Most ghostwriting is outsourced as freelance work. This allows companies access to professional writing without having to staff a full time professional. There has been a recent trend of outsourcing ghostwriting jobs to countries such as India because these places offer companies a more cost effective way of doing business. The overall costs for ghostwritten articles in places like this can be up to 80% less than pieces written in the United States, UK or Canada. Before selecting a content writing company, it is important to understand what content writing entails. First of all, there is the actual content of your website. This concerns the different pages of your website which will include the home page, “about us” page and the like. Typically, a webmaster will outline the general requirements for these pages, and then allow writer to create professionally written material that is designed to attract the viewer. Because this type of material is representative of the company itself, it is considered to be some of the most important writing that the company has to offer. Poorly written content reflects negatively on a company and can turn away many potential clients. In addition to writing original material for website content, ghost writers can also improve website content by editing or updating previously written work.

Another form of writing that you will need to consider is in the form of articles. Articles can be used for various business purposes and one role of the article is for search engine optimization strategies. An article that is correctly optimized can significantly increase a websites ranking within the search engine, and thus increase the flow of traffic to the site itself. These types of articles typically reflect general information or current industry news. They normally contain links embedded in the article itself, and then they are distributed to various article directories and e-magazines to ensure mass circulation. In addition to search engine ranking benefits, a well written article will keep the viewer abreast of current news and industry trends and thus provide the company with a steady stream of repeat visitors.

Another important form of writing is the company blog. Blogs are more informal than articles or website content, and they are typically written as opinion pieces. Like articles or website content, blogs can be used for search engine optimization purposes. Even though most of these pieces are written by a ghost writer, they are generally published under the pseudonym of the webmaster. Because a blog is less formal than an article or press release, they allow the writer much more creative freedom; however, they should always contain material that is pertinent to the company’s products and services. Posting a blog is a very effective way of promoting a website, and should always be considered an important part of a company’s writing strategy.

Lastly, there will come a point in time when a company will need to issue a press release. Press Releases are another mechanism of promotion and they normally focus on specific products or services offered by the company. For example, a company will issue a press release when a new service or product is available to the public. They are also issued when a company starts a promotional campaign. One particularly effective form of the press release is the product or service review. A good ghost writer will take the time to research the company’s products and services and write an effective review. A review will give the reader insight into the product they are interested in and will allow them to make a more informative decision. It is always in the best interest of the company to keep potential clients informed of new products and services and the press release is the ideal strategy to attract new customers. Press releases can be published at various press release websites, and a good content writing company will be ensure that these materials are published on a large scale.

As you can see, there are many reasons to consider a content writing service for your company’s writing needs. In essence, the website is the face of the company, so it is important to present to the public the most professional and attractive presentation as possible. A ghostwriter can help you meet these needs and ensure your company’s success.

In the 21st century, there are more markets for writers than ever: traditional publishers, niche publishers, magazines, corporations, electronic media; there are literally millions of markets for writers, world-wide. You can supply those markets. You can turn your words into dollars, today.

Start a small business as a Ghost Writer today and turn your writing skills into revenue. As a Ghost Writer, you’ll prepare or edit literary works for others to claim as their own. These works may include autobiographies for celebrities, political speeches, or letters from corporate executives. Some writers shun this business for its lack of literary ownership. Keep in mind, however, that as a writer you can make money both with your own works as well as on ghost writing collaborations. Ghost writing can supplement your own writing income. With ghost writing you get paid weather or not the work sells well or poorly. With your own work you will own make money if you can sell it.

The Internet is also a huge market for ghost writers. Content for websites, blogs, newsletters, ebooks and more are always in demand. Learning a little about how to write for Internet based clients could pay huge dividends. Some of the more important aspects include style and search engine optimization.

You’ll obviously need to be a good writer for this business to work. Be patient with customers as you’ll often need to work through more revisions than when working on your own. Your customers will want to express their own “style” through you. As such, it may take some time for you to fine tune your writing to support their style and sentiment. Discretion and confidentiality is also very important in this business. Never share with others details of your ghost writing work. Confidentiality is a most and in most causes you will need to sign a non discloser agreement prior to beginning work on most projects.

If writing for is a hobby, passion or past time, you could easily make money out of it. Researching and learning more about a subject is what a ghost writer is all about. Making sure that you satisfy your clients with quality articles that is always their money’s worth. Always keep in mind that you write for the love of it and is earning because of writing. Enjoy what you do, do not consider it as work and you would surely get a long way by just having the right mindset.

    ghosts
Whether their existence is in the realm of reality or just a figment of human imagination, one thing is certain—Scary creatures of the night we come to know as ghosts never fail to capture our fascination.

It is intriguing to note that debates about the existence of ghosts have been waged for centuries. Paranormal believers spread the word of veracity to prove they exist while skeptics continue to look for hard and quantifiable evidence to disprove the former’s claim. The dispute goes on.

Though not all of us have actual encounters with these scary creatures, we are made aware of their interaction with the living through urban legends. These have circulated through oral traditions and in a way, helped preserve traces of ancient traditions of the world.  In the recent years, many of them have been written making them more accessible to curious and skeptic minds alike. They may come in different forms, can be depicted as good or evil, and even be revered in some cultures as spirits of good fortune.

I have collected a list of and ghost stories and urban legends from all over the world that have contributed to people’s growing interest, if not fear, in these creatures of the night. So curl up, pull a blanket and brace yourself for a good scare.

    Bloody Mary

In a dark room at midnight, stand in front of a mirror, and start chanting “Bloody Mary” thirteen times. Then, wait for the horror hiding on the other side of the mirror. There have been many permutations of this legend, but the most famous one tells of a vengeful ghost of a woman that has reportedly killed the person calling her; clawed the summoner’s eyes out; drove the person mad; or pulled the caller into the mirror with her.

No one really knows the origin of the Bloody Mary legend. Speculations say that Bloody Mary was a witch killed for practicing witchcraft.

    Trapped in a Cemetery

A group of friends dare a member to stay overnight in a cemetery. The person is locked in inside a coffin with a corpse overnight. The morning after, the one who did the dare ends up insane with his hair turned white. No one knows what more there is to this legend because the victims never speak again.

    Hanged Man in the Shower

You go to a vacation and decided to stay in a cheap motel to economize. Tired and weary, you take a shower to freshen up. As you enjoy the hot shower, you suddenly feel something touching your head. You feel annoyed and look up. A horrific sight of a hanged man meets your sight. You yell and call for the motel’s manager. Upon coming back to check on the room, the hanged man isn’t there anymore. You explained to the manager what you saw and upon looking at his face closely, you realize that he has the face of the man you saw hanged in the shower.

Kid Looking for a Report Card

This legend has been depicted in the Taiwanese film, The Eye. The legend tells about a kid going around the building, knocking on people’s door looking for his missing report card. It turns out that the kid jumped off from the 13th floor of the building after having been scolded by his parents for not showing his grades. The child really lost the report card but was accused of lying by his parent. Desperate and scared of being beaten to a pulp, the kid opted to kill himself.

    Corpse in the Elevator

An intern in a hospital is dispatched to the morgue located in the basement of the building. He is told to check on the patient who recently died and was taken to the morgue for an autopsy. The number on the patient’s tag together with her name is the only thing he know about the patient.

When he entered the elevator, a woman dressed in a white robe is already there. He notices that the woman is also headed to the basement because the button was already pressed. The intern wonders if the woman is a doctor or a nurse because only those with official business can enter the morgue. His eyes then set on the wrist of the woman. There was a tag. The tag has the number of the dead patient he is supposed to check.

The next day, the intern ends up insane and unable to speak.

See the Haunts of Old Havana with The Original Havana Ghost Tours, Havana Cuba’s first ghost tour. Ghost Guides will introduce guests to the city’s “other night life” as they walk through the shadowy, cobblestone streets and narrow lanes of this Grande Dame of the Caribbean.

The ghost tour walks amidst the city’s most haunted places- the Cathedral, the waterfront, the battlements, the haunts where Hemingway imbibed spirits. Christopher Columbus’ bones are said to rest in Havana. Does his restless spirit wander its streets? You shall find out.

Havana conjures up many images of its illustrious past - piracy, the Spanish Maine, Hollywood movie stars, the glamor of Café Society and the Mob in the 1940s and 1950s.

Its physical heritage is Spanish and its spiritual foundation is with the Indians that came before. This combining is reflected in her full name - San Cristobal de la Habana. It combines San Cristóbal, the city’s patron saint, with Habana, a name of mysterious origins that is said to be the name of the daughter of a major chieftain, Habaguanex, who controlled the area. Is it her spirit that gives Havana her grace and beauty? The guides will reveal her story.

The Spanish monarchy gave the city the designation “Key to the New World and defender of the West Indies.” A daunting name and responsibility for any political entity. It is here, in late summers, that the Spanish treasure ships gathered from around the Americas to sail as a convoy to the Old World, she was the hub of trade.

During this time she suffered regular attacks by buccaneers, pirates, and French corsairs looking for booty, and perhaps some chicas. The first attack and burning of the city was by the French corsair Jacques de Sores. He took the city with only two ships. He plundered the city and murdered 30 elders and blacks who were imprisoned. He left without obtaining the enormous wealth that he was hoping to. Are the spirits of the prisoners still there bemoaning their odd fate at the hands of a stranger? Are the ghosts of the Spanish Colonial Guards still riding the streets at night to protect the citizens of this fabled city? You shall find out.

But for many Americans it is the 1950s whose image is best known. It was the time before Castro’s revolution, a time when the mob nested in Havana. Names like Meyer Lansky, Lucky Luciano and Santo Trafficante hob-nobed with the Hollywood elite - Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner, Marlene Dietrich and Gary Cooper. Their memories, if not their spirits, still haunt this fabled city.

Great old buildings like the Convent of St Augustin, El Morro Castle, the chapel of the Humilladero, the fountain of Dorotea de la Luna in La Chorrera, the Church of the Holy Angel, the hospital of San Lazaro, the monastery of Santa Teresa and the Convent of San Felipe Neri keep her steeped in tradition and rich in spirits.

The Ghosts wish to introduce you to the Havana of years gone by - and of the spirit-rich nights of the here and now.

Join the Guides and Ghosts in Havana when Congress lifts the ban on American Travel to our sister country to the south - ninety miles from Key West.

    Muchísimas Gracias, Señoras y Señores,

Los Fantasmas de La Vieja Havana

Have you never needed an article and had writers block? You get stuck and just can’t seem to get your thoughts down on paper. Getting writers block happens to the best writers and if you’re in business and need extra content for your website or blog, hiring a ghost writer may be just the answer for you. Hiring a writer for your company articles makes good since if you’re too busy to write them yourself.

Many small companies the owner if the chief cook and bottle washer. To save money, you have to wear many hats to try to save money for your growing startup company. When a company becomes more established, the owner may find he just doesn’t have the time to sit down at his computer and take the time to crank out an article a few times a week. When you get to that point it in business it makes good sense to look to hire a good ghost writer to write articles for your company.

Hiring a ghost writer to write articles for your company isn’t very hard to do. Many article directories offer this service. If your business is very specialized, you may be more challenged to find someone who can intelligently write good fresh content for your website. In a case like this you may choose to try to use a service that specializes at doing this kind of service.

When hiring an article writer one thing good to look for is someone who has a lot of varied experience in many different fields. If you trying to write about car sales, look for a writer that has sales experience in closely related fields. Sometimes too good of a writer may alienate the customers audience if his vocabulary doesn’t match that of the reader. You may have to weed through several writers until you find someone who matches the style and experience of the company web owner.

Reading samples of past articles the author has written on varied subjects is a prerequisite to hiring a good writer for your company. Take your time by doing your research when you are looking for a potential candidate author for your blogs, newsletter or articles. See how closely some of the articles match what you want to hire them to write about.

You can use messaging services like MSN messenger to chat with your author if they reside in a different country then your own. Hiring oversea writers from countries like Thailand and India can save you money and you can get quality writers without the overhead involved with the cost of living of that in the west.

Many overseas companies have people you can hire for as little as $5 dollars an hour. Skilled content writers may be hundreds less per job then what writers in the west may charge. You want to make sure to check their work to make sure your getting quality at a fair price.

In summary, hiring a ghost writer may be the answer to carry out your message to your customers when the owner is too busy with other facets with running the business. Hiring a good writer isn’t hard if you take the time to research your writers past articles and writing work and make sure their style fits that of your own. Hiring oversea ghost writers can save you a lot of money if you’re lucky enough to find a highly skilled writer who can match your style.

So you go out there and make a real effort to find a good SEO ghost writer. And maybe you do find somebody, so what happens next? What kind of results should you realistically expect from their work? What goals and targets should you give them? These are some of the many questions that go through the minds of webmasters and site owners as they consider using the services of SEO ghost writers.

There is a client I handled recently who had a problem that is common to many websites. The kind of service that they provide (data recovery) is the sort of thing that you only look for when you are in trouble. This means that conventional advertising does not work too well. Would you advertise good quality coffins to folks who mostly do not expect a funeral in the family soon?

However search engines are perfect because people rush to them to solve problems and find services and products. Currently the situation with this client’s site is that they are attracting a lot of traffic direct from search engines for keyword phrases that are highly targeted. Meaning that the people using them are actually looking for data recovery services and they need them right away.

The quality of search engine traffic has never really been fully recognized and appreciated by most people. Did you know that in some cases search engine traffic has a conversion rate of as much as 80 per cent or even higher for websites selling stuff? What this means is that 8 out of the 10 people who click through to the site from the Google search engine end up buying the product or service. The reason for this amazing and extraordinary conversion rate is simple. It is because folks using a search engine to look for something actually need it right away.

The person to get you into this happy situation where you start attracting valuable and highly targeted traffic directly from search engines like Google is a SEO ghost writer. Find a SEO ghost writer who can write captivating content based exactly on what people are searching for or are bound to search for in search engines. And naturally your ghost writer must be a fairly good expert in search engine optimization. I have seen cases where writers repeat a keyword phrase way too many times in an article and get an effect that is the very opposite of what they seek.

Weaving words together to not only make sense but create an impact is possible only by the few who have the talent and have acquired the required skills. For those who want to create a website, but are unable to write content that meets their expectations, it poses a major hurdle. The only way a website will sell is if there is appealing content, related to the companys objective and simple enough to be understood by all. The writers who are extremely talented will be able to land many projects and earn themselves a reputation in this field. And if they want to make it big, they might be approached by publishers to promote their works. When a person takes the assistance of a talented writer but sells it or makes it look like they did the writing on their own, the person who did the writing is called a Ghost writer.

At times, if a celebrity or famous person wants to write a book but are lost and have no clues where to start, they will hunt for professional writers to do the work. And if the writer has an agent, they might ask them to look for ghost writing opportunities. The drawback of this concept is the writer does not get any credit for the efforts and writing they have done. This is something similar to passing off someone elses work as your own, but in this case it is done with the knowledge of the original writer. To be able to market or promote a product or service, specified writing is required. And these writers possess the ability to write just what is required. Their services are also utilized to write articles, reports, reviews and books for political leaders, businessmen and celebrities. When a business manager has to present a report to his team but does not have the ability to put his thoughts in precise words, a ghost writer is called in to do the deed. The report will be drafted to give the impression that it was written by the manager. His style, mannerisms, words he might use will be inserted here and there to get the desired effect.

If a person is a good speaker, it doesnt mean that he has drafted what he orated, and this could be because of lack of time or are unable to pen well crafted words. This way he can concentrate more on developing his business and working out new strategies. And if the content written for his speech or website makes an impact, it would give his company an edge over others increasing business opportunities. In fact some college students are known to use the services of ghost writers to write essays for their college admission knowing the essay will turn out perfect. There are plenty of writers available who are willing to forego recognition to write such material and come to the rescue of others who have ideas but unable to express the same on paper.

Coming face to face with a ghost can have its benefits. –Especially along the South Carolina coast. With the ominous hurricane season upon us, it is no wonder that South Carolinians become nervous when the names Hugo, Hazel, Gracie, and Fran are mentioned. Storms such as these have ravaged the coastal areas of the Carolinas for centuries leaving a wake of destruction in their paths.

Modern technology such as weather satellites have provided weather forecasters with the tools needed to predict the intensity and path of these storms. But there is also a storm warning of the supernatural kind haunting the beaches of South Carolina. As legend has it, prior to devastating storms such as hurricane Hugo, a mysterious figure known as the Gray Man appears on the beach warning of the impending disaster. Those who heed his warnings are spared their homes or even more importantly their lives. Throughout the years, there have been numerous sightings of the Gray Man along the South Carolina coast before every major storm. Locals have talked about this phenomenon for over two centuries and the Gray Man has become known as something of a friendly, life-saving ghost.

Who is the Gray Man and where did he come from? The story of the Gray Man has it’s roots in the coastal community of Pawley’s Island where many of the sightings have occurred. According to local legend, in 1822 a young lad eagerly returning home on horseback from a trip to Europe unsuspectingly encounters a patch of quicksand and quickly sinks to his death. As an unknown storm brews off the coast, his fiancée wanders the beach in sorrow when she encounters the ghost of her lover. He attempts to warn her of the approaching hurricane and disappears without a trace. The young lady is so disturbed by the vision of her dead lover that her father decides to move the family back to their inland home. The following day the hurricane strikes with fury but the family’s home is spared.

For those who have witnessed the presence of the Gray Man, the ghostly apparition floating in mid-air with no discernable features must be a startling sight. But for those who have not had a spooky encounter with the Gray Man there is one place where tourists and locals are guaranteed to come face to face with this spector who haunts the South Carolina coast. Ghosts and Legends Theatre located in Barefoot Landing, a shopping, dining and entertainment complex in North Myrtle Beach, features a live action hurricane experience every half hour. In a southern plantation parlor setting, the legendary story of the Gray Man comes to life, complete with slamming shutters, thrashing tree limbs, rain, wind and crashing glass. At the height of the raging storm, the Gray Man comes floating into the room amidst the chaos, to deliver his final message to guests in person (or rather, in spirit!) Although the storm and apparition are all clever simulations, it’s a haunting encounter not soon forgotten.
